 1:30 - 2:30    Workshop

Building Powerful Minds
Presented by:  Terri McCormick

Building Powerful Minds

Terri McCormick, President of McCormick Dawson Consulting and Publishing Group (www.mccormickdawson.com), former State Legislator and U.S. Congressional Candidate shares with the Business and Professional Women (www.bpwusa.org)  her thoughts on learning and leading in business and in politics.

Terri’s insight included in her presentation entitled “Building Powerful Minds” is a people’s forum on being good political consumers in this 2008 presidential election year.  Terri’s workshop will include lessons learned by voters and candidates alike/ as well as her personal stories from her new book’s chapter entitled; “Campaigns-Dirty Tricks & Election Engineering.”  Attendees will be provided a personal checklist on their readiness to serve in public office.

“What Sex is a Republican?” takes a look at the political game from behind the curtain with one intention; to call on each of us to serve in our local, state and federal government.  The principles of government have been lost on the money changes in our state and national capitols.  There is only one way to change that; we the people must take responsibility for what our government has become while we weren’t looking.

Ms. McCormick will hold an interactive power point discussion based on her seven years of research and writing of her new book, “What Sex is a Republican,” a Bi-Partisan Call for Change not only in her political party but in both political parties and the system as a whole.

About the speaker:

A former Wisconsin Truman Scholar, Terri McCormick continues her work as a public policy and leadership innovator.  Prior to being elected to the Wisconsin Legislature from 2000-2006 McCormick founded Wisconsin’s Charter School Laws.  Her Public Policy work has won numerous state and national awards; the Eisenberg Award - Wisconsin Public Defender’s Office, the Scales of Justice Award - Wisconsin State Bar, Best Practice Award - Small Business Administration in Washington D.C., as well as numerous other recognitions for her pioneering work in the state’s first competitive prescription drug purchasing pool which has created opportunities for individuals and saved tax payers millions of dollars annually.

Terri McCormick was the 2008 Key Note Speaker for the Wisconsin Democracy Campaign, “Wisconsin Post Chvala and Jensen.”  And is a current State Board Member of Common Cause  – she is dedicated to voter and leadership education.  Visit www.youtube.com/terrimccormick  for a review on her upcoming book due out this year on this topic.

Author of “What Sex is a Republican?” to address Wisconsin Democracy Campaign

Terri McCormick, President of McCormick Dawson Consulting and Publishing Group, first State of WI Truman Scholar, former State Legislator and U.S. Congressional Candidate shares with the Wisconsin Democracy Campaign (www.wisdc.org) her thoughts on learning and leading in business and in politics.

Terri's insight included in her presentation entitled “Post Chvala and Jensen, How Far has Wisconsin Come?” will include lessons learned by voters and candidates alike, as well as her personal stories from the congressional campaign trail of 2006.  Attendees will be provided a personal checklist on their readiness to serve in public office.

“What Sex is a Republican?” takes a look at the political game from behind the curtain with one intention: to call on each of us to serve in our local, state and federal government.
The principles of government have been lost on the money changers in our state and national capitols.
There is only one way to change that; we the people must take responsibility for what our government has become while we weren’t looking.

Says McCormick, “As spending, deficits and taxes continue to rise along with campaign contributions, it will take real leadership to stand up to the status quo and reverse the current trends.  However, the citizens of Wisconsin literally cannot afford to wait for change.”
